What Am I Missing Wednesday
We live in a time where the noise we hear is a box. The news, opinion, truth, fact, conspiracy are inside the box, and we seem incapable of working through the ‘evidence’ to know whether the contents are real (alive) or fake (dead). Liminality means that you are neither in the state you left nor entirely in your new state. The disorientation of our times and circumstances creates comfort in the state of unknowing. If I haven’t yet had my belief discredited, it still has some validity.
The author Bruce Feiler wrote a book called Life Is in the Transitions: Mastering Change at Any Age. “ life quakes.” Covid-19, economic instability, racial injustice, and polarized politics may be offering us exit ramps from the path we have been running without examining our ‘why.’
Adult to Adult Conversations
I spent time yesterday with a friend. We have shred hundreds of conversations across hundreds of topics and agreed and disagreed in equal measure. I mention the two hours we spent because most of the time, it feels like partisanship, ideology, or indifference makes the conversation adult to child or worse, child to child?
The sun will come up.
Am I the only person who is worrying about all the tomorrows we face? I don’t have the data or information to predict the results of the US election (although I have) makes my fear about the unknown unfounded. Regardless of who is elected, who challenges what, what corruption occurred )or didn’t), I have hope that Wednesday, November 4, will start like all the other 24, 150 of my life.
If you have a theory, opinion, or some insight into what I am missing, please be bold and share in the comments.
